Nick Bubb and Elli Hooper are running the Lewa Safari Marathon

After a knee injury two months ago, my training has been three v gentle & short jogs. For those who know me well, although I’ve taken on a long list of endurance challenges over the years, this is a very different situation!

Since I took up the role of CEO at Tusk in January 2024, there has been little time for exercise, whether injured or not! Of course, in theory, it’s all just a matter of priorities… but this has been an ‘all in’ experience. The pressure to continue to help drive support towards so many important African conservation initiatives, is very real!

My proper running days may be long gone and it might 'only' be a half but this is different. It’s at serious altitude in mega heat! It's a show of solidarity and camaraderie, with so many who push themselves to their physical limits, to help protect endangered species and critically important habitats across Africa.  

This is not about times or ‘a performance’, this is going to be an ugly slog and my body is going to hate it for weeks afterwards, but the purpose will be ample reward. To help deliver that purpose, I’m asking for your support.
